What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
You’ll never succeed if you don’t try.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I love getting to meet so many new people and getting to know them, especially when you get to work with them for a while. You don’t get a bigger thrill than seeing that you are helping someone make a difference in their work.

Who is your favourite leader, and why?
Malala Yousafzai. Although not a business leader, she stands up for positive change in the world and shows leadership in a new light.

What is your favourite business book, and why?
The Reengineering Alternative – William E. Schneider
Although there are a number of different ways of categorising organisational culture and defining different kinds of cultures, Scheider’s concept of core cultures is easy to grasp and focuses on developing the culture that the organisation already has, pulling out the key strengths and linking this to how leadership can manage culture.

What tune do you sing in the shower?
American Pie, Don McLean. All six verses and if I forget any of the words, it’s back to the start!

What would you invent?
Never ending cake.
